The building material consists of compression-resistant stone slabs, between which a tension-resistant layer of carbon fibers is arranged. The composite building material has great lightweight construction potential.\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/figure>\n\n\t\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n <div class=\"block block--text  margin-bottom--big\" id=\"block_d5a33188783052aa95371e0db1f50ed9\" data-id=\"\">\n\n\n\t<div class=\"container container--small js-fade js-fade-up\">\n\n\t\t<section class=\"section text has-white-bg  is-clipped\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"columns is-centered\">\n<div class=\"column is-12-tablet is-10-desktop is-8-widescreen is-4k is-centered\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"text has-text-left\">\n<p>DACCUSS is investigating the storage of natural carbon in sustainably bound form based on new material systems made of carbon fibres (C-fibres) and hard rock for the development of a new structure for self-supporting house wall elements with innovative insulation made of biochar.<br \/>\nThe technical storage of CO\u2082\u00a0in solid materials such as carbon fibres from biogenic sources (algae oil) was the subject of BMBF funding with the \u201cGreen Carbon Project\u201d at the TU Munich. The green C-fibre was processed into carbon fibre stone (CFS\u00ae) in combination with hard rock and resin.<br \/>\nIn DACCUS, the efficiency with which CO\u2082 for algae production can be filtered directly from the air is demonstrated. Using passive CO\u2082 filters (Mechanical Trees\u00ae) as an example, the entire value chain from CO\u2082\u00a0from the ambient air to prefabricated elements for the construction industry will be covered.<\/p>\n<p>The wall is developed, built and tested from CFS\u00ae. The CO\u2082\u00a0sequestration potential is contained in all components of this house wall: the C-fibre, the stone and the insulation layer.<\/p>\n<p>The green C-fibre has the same characteristic values as the PAN-based fibres derived from fossil sources and permanently stores 3.5kg of CO\u2082\u00a0equivalents per kg of C-fibre, if it is not burnt after use, as is currently the case.<br \/>\nThe weathering of the rock used additionally contributes to CO\u2082 sequestration. The cut slabs of the CFS wall lead to CO\u2082 removal when the surfaces weather, and the rock dust produced during cutting can be used as mineral fertiliser in agriculture, for example. The resulting enhanced weathering in the soil additionally returns large quantities of CO\u2082 to the geological cycle.<\/p>\n<p>The expected overall CO\u2082\u00a0balance of the wall is negative.<\/p>\n<p>Partners in the project are DITF (German Institutes for Textile and Fibre Research), Labor f\u00fcr Stahl- und Leichtmetallbau GmbH, TechnoCarbonTechnologies, University of Hamburg and AHP GmbH &amp; CoKG, which will subject the entire process chain to an LCA and a techno-economic analysis (TEA), as well as TU Munich\/WSSB, GvU GmbH and Carbon Collect Ltd (Ireland) as associated
