Together with the European Business Council for Sustainable Energy (e5), the team presents research on Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) \u2014 a method for CO\u2082 removal that accelerates the natural weathering of Gabbro and Basalt rocks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New findings highlight the potential of Gabbro stones from the Global South, especially from Africa and India, which can serve as building materials while their stone dust contributes to CO\u2082 binding in agricultural and agroforestry soils. DACCUSS illustrates how material use and carbon removal can be combined in practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Side Event: Scalable CDR through Enhanced Rock Weathering<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4>\ud83d\udcc6 <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday, 20 November 2025, from 15:00 to 16:30<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>\ud83d\udccd<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Side Event Room 1<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cScalable CDR through Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) using Gabbro and Basalt Stones at Gt-scale\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another side event will take place in the CDR30 Pavilion, which is appearing at a COP for the first time, with the e5 theme.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speakers from youth initiatives in the Global South, research, industry, and international CDR programs will discuss the role of Enhanced Rock Weathering for scalable CO\u2082 removal and sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\udccdCDR30 Pavilion and Exhibition in Week 2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcc6 <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday, 15 November 2025, 13:00\u201314:30<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udccd<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CDR30 Pavilion<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cBuilding with Stone, storing CO2 through ERW\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DACCUSS and e5 will contribute with a presentation and panel discussion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During Week 2 (17\u201320 November, Booth No. 19), visitors can meet the team at the Exhibition Booth, which highlights new insights on carbon-negative building materials based on Gabbro and Basalt and their potential for Enhanced Rock Weathering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research from the CDRterra Consortium<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the CDRterra consortium, DACCUSS developed an innovative composite material made of plant-based carbon fibers, hard rock, and biochar. The material permanently stores CO\u2082 and can be used as a carbon-negative wall element.
